Cubico Bed Frame, created by Italian designer Martina Branchetti, is a contemporary interpretation of a low-profile platform bed. Crafted from solid beech wood, a horizontal shape defined with chamfered edges is connected to four sturdy pillars, whose almost brutalist character creates a sense of rootedness within the bedroom. As the final touch, the wood is stained by one of two distinct pigmentations, recalling the tradition of mediterranean mid-century furniture design.

RYE is a design brand creating bedroom interiors that anchor the senses and encourage rest. With an emphasis on honest materials the brand has built a collection of furniture, mattresses and lighting. Since launching, RYE has refined their aesthetic principles by merging historical references with a contemporary exploration of form. Inspired by analog living the brand incorporates a thoughtfully selected array of natural materials to build an expression of sculptural design and tactile depth. Drawing on the insights of sustainable thinking, RYE has established its own production facilities in the Danish Lake Highlands. The local embeddedness offers a more conscious way of creating – one that is materialized in quality based craftmanship and a made-to-order philosophy.

As a dogma, RYE follows the principle of made-to-order production, which has allowed the brand to work within small scale manufacturing, aligning each product with its’ customer. Consequently, a more organic cycle of production is being practiced, leaving space for a thorough process of the craft with a minimal amount of waste. Celebrating the beauty of natural materials, RYE approaches the art of producing interiors as a humble act of mediation. The purpose is not so much in transforming raw materials, as it is in maintaining their origin and conveying the stories the materials already contain, within the homes of people.

Designer

Martina Branchetti is a cross-disciplinary furniture and interior designer based between Italy and Denmark. Her creative practice is highly research driven; molded by the surroundings of her Italian upbringing, whilst simultaneously being informed by recent experiences living across Europe. This history is apparent in her work, where shapes and forms drawn from her childhood are reinterpreted based on these new contexts. In 2023 Martina established APOHLI alongside Lewis Graham — a creative studio working across furniture, object, and spatial design. Their principles lie within investigations of the past and present, synthesizing elements of primitive craft and contemporary production — to create tangible outputs centered around these dichotomous narratives.
