Le Pigeon Voyageur – Letter to fold – Wild Geranium
Handwritten letters have become rare these days but the pleasure they bring has remained. Stationery by «Le pigeon voyageur» is inspired by finds from years past and still committed to contemporary design. «Le pigeon voyageur» develops a Ready-to-Write collection as well as tailor-made products on request. Printed, refined and assembled in Switzerland, the high-quality stationery of «Le pigeon voyageur» takes up a disappearing handicraft and communication culture. No matter if the paper is embossed, folded, gummed, perforated or provided with coloured edges – the rustling, the surface, the paint application — all of this is important in the creation of stationery that will be the carrier of valuable messages.
In her bright studio in a former bedspring factory in Zürich Altstetten Naomi Baldauf designs «Le pigeon voyageur» stationery line. Her work as a designer is influenced by the TV and pop culture of her childhood and youth, as well as by fashion, music and literature of the earlier decades of the 20th century, historic and ethnic art and handcraft. In her studio she creates with water color, ink, oil pastels, all sort of materials and the computer, constantly searching for what she considers the ideal combination of content, color and material. Combining materials of opposite qualities, interaction between text, image, color and the overall haptic impression may cause friction initially but ultimately appear harmonious. Carefully selected material is an important aspect in Naomi’s work: the cracking sound of the paper, the surface, the color application — all this is essential. Her close collaboration with Rita Nicolussi permits her to not only have ideas in her mind and on paper, but also produce and spread these ideas to the wider public.
