A handmade alder Shaker tray from Malax, Finland, produced using a time- honoured method: slender, curved wooden strips are joined by lacing them with spruce roots. These trays work beautifully for serving tea, organising your oil and vinegar bottles in the kitchen, for letters and desk items.

The surface is finished with a lineseed oil, which may have a noticeable natural aroma at first but gradually disappears.
For everyday care, simply wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth.
