Mano Mani – Ikebana Vase – Dark Stoneware and white glaze – 3
French ceramist Julie Boucherat founded MANO MANI in 2019, which she designed as a transversal creation and curation space.
Biography.
Born in 1987 in Nice, France, Julie Boucherat lives and works in Bayonne, in the Basque Country. Ceramic artist, she imagines and shapes stoneware pieces with raw lines, endearing shapes and rich textures. Ex-editor-in-chief of the magazine MilK Decoration, Boucherat returns to her origins in 2016, those of clay, a living material she was introduced from an early age by her mother, a sculptor. Today, her territory, abundant in nature, myths and traditions, represents an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
Artistic approach.
Boucherat’s artistic approach is spontaneous and strongly influenced by the context. It is specifically on the occasion of exhibitions that she expresses the diversity of her approach and illustrates her taste for scenography and atmospheric creation, in addition to her work as a ceramist. She likes to cross the arts by surrounding herself with artists with various practices (video, music, performing arts…) in order to offer the public a global experience, imbued with poetry.
